People, places, and events from our past can inhabit the recesses of our awareness. They are out of sight, but not out of mind. So, what is our subconscious trying to tell us?
Do you live the constant memory of people, places, or things? These experiences indicate a special connection. You should investigate.
People who engage in serious inner work often find memories can be the key to unlocking the gifts of the spirit. Traumatic events can also trigger our subconscious mind to recall forgotten experiences. Curiosity prompts us to investigate patterns, themes, or meanings. See if the following resonates with you.
What’s A Soul Connection or Soul Link?
What does it mean to have a link with the spirit or soul? It is the sense that you have a link to another person or place. Some people experience a sense of Déjà vu. This is the feeling you’ve been there before or somehow already know them. Some believe this relates to a past life experience, and it’s why people or places may be out of sight but not out of mind.
Have you ever met someone that resonates with you? Perhaps you visit some place only to find it feels like home? These are everyday experiences that relate to the concept of spirit connection. So don’t be afraid; it’s a good thing.
We classify this kind of link as spiritual. Don’t confuse physical attraction or romantic interest with a soul connection, because a genuine connection of the soul is beyond the superficial aspects of our instincts. One must learn to discern between physical desire and a spiritual link. You will see the difference as we describe some of the related forms of the soul link.
Many people, places, events, and things can have significant intrinsic meaning rather than superficial or temporary attraction. When thoughts from the past invade our present, it is a message, a sign that you may have a soul link. The information could come from the subconscious mind or, as some sages tell us, our ancestors or even the Universe may be trying to reach us through exposing synchronistic connections.
Collective Soul Energy
Anytime there is a powerful soul bond, time does not erase the tie. So, lost loves are at the top of this list, and not just the love of another person; we can love places and events as well. Shamanism tells us that extending the bonds of emotion to anything is like creating a rope from the heart, a soul connection. The more aware you are, the more likely you are to encounter these sublime synchronicities.
It is also possible for three or more people to share this deep connection. This is one reason a group of people can be so energizing. It is the social force that connects people with the same cause. Collective soul energy can change, allowing people to have different levels of energy.
So, here is where it is a bit confusing. You can have an emotional attachment because of the soul link. If you sense the bond when you see the person or place, it’s more likely to be a soul link. But, if you “feel” a physical attraction first, it’s more than likely sexual instinct driving the interest.
What came first, the chicken or the egg? That’s a tricky question. The same applies to determining if a connection is instinctual or spiritual. When you have a physical relationship with someone, you create several links. You share your DNA, but you also share part of your heart and soul. So, a heart connection can feel the same as a soul bond.
If you are skeptical or puzzled by the connection with someone or some place, you are more than likely experiencing a soul connection. You have no physical or instinctual connection, so it must be a link from another source. If you don’t know why you connect with someone or some place, then it is more than likely the soul link at work. Your doubts about the connection deserve thorough investigation.
We associate many labels with this interesting experiential phenomenon, such as soul mate and twin flame. We’ll examine some of these to see how they all come back to one source.
Out of Sight But Not Out of Mind
Many people can relate to the heart-wrenching experience of loss. However, everyone must find a way to deal with this grief and loss. It’s not something you “get over.” It’s something you can learn to reframe.
There is a range of coping strategies to deal with loss, from healthy to unhealthy. The healthy way starts with understanding change itself and how you process it, because loss is change.
Losing a loved one is a major loss, but they stay in your memory forever. There are five stages of loss and grief. These major life events take us on an emotional roller-coaster. We can cycle through denial, anger, if-only, depression, and finally, acceptance. We can help emotional healing by reframing memories.
To reframe means to adjust the volume of the emotion attached to memories. People, places, and things may be “out of sight, but not out of mind.” They occupy your awareness, so make their presence positive. Learning to reframe these memories gives them a positive rather than negative impact. If the emotional weight interferes with your daily activities, investigate this strategy. A subset of a soul connection. People refer to this as a “soul mate.” This kind of connection distinguishes itself from others with an immediate recognition of something unusual or special.
One way to tell it is a genuine connection of the soul is when your meeting is a mutual eureka moment. Both people sense the connection. Some believe this relates to the “past life connection.” It’s where we think we’re connected through reincarnation to relive some relationship lessons.
One way to tell if you are dealing with a soul link is that it brings you a sense of peace. The link should not bring up negative emotions. If it does, then it’s a warning you need to engage in some inner work to help with past trauma.
Common Experience
The workplace provides an opportunity. It is a place where people from different backgrounds come together for the same mission. You can develop bonds with people outside of your normal circle of social contacts.
The more intense the circumstances, the stronger the catalyst, which creates emotional links. People with military and medical backgrounds often develop lifelong bonds. Survivors of trauma have strong bonds with their peers. Earthquakes, hurricanes, and war are things that create intense shared life experiences.
Ancestral Connection
Our ancestors are the link in the chain of people who sacrificed to provide us with the opportunity to live. Sometimes, we can trace our lineage back generations, while other people know nothing about their ancestral links. Yet, they are a soul connection back to the roots of our existence.
Our ancestors are out of sight, but not out of mind. Many cultures routinely celebrate and give honor to the line of their descendants. Even if we don’t know our lineage, we can benefit from honoring the line of our descendants. When we give gratitude, it always pays dividends. Don’t discount the power of creating a place of reverence; it doesn’t need to be elaborate. All you need is a picture to remind you of the sacrifices and trials others ensured to give you life.
For some, our family of origin was not a positive experience. This, too, provides an opportunity to practice forgiveness.
Sacred Ground
The term sacred ground refers to our most closely held beliefs. This concept also applies to special physical locations or the connection with our ancestors.
Some of the special locations resonate with energy. Ancient cultures built significant structures on the ley lines and spiritual junction points. Sometimes, it’s a place unspoiled by man’s hand, a place in nature that resonates deeply. Your memory of the site should bring you a sense of happiness, even if the land no longer resembles your memory.
Past Life Relationship
We mentioned this one upfront but want to dig a little deeper into this concept. Past life experiences can be an immediate eureka event. Additionally, practitioners use hypnosis for past-life regression. Unfortunately, the subconscious is open to suggestions and imagination when using hypnosis. Combining these two elements can end up creating new false memories and distorting genuine memories and experiences.
Out-of-Body Experience
Our consciousness is more versatile than we realize. We can perceive from a perspective outside our body. It’s what some call astral projection. We can use meditation techniques to facilitate this change of perception.
Those who practice the Sidhis of Patanjali know that combining two of these sutras enables one’s awareness to move beyond the confines of the body. So, they can bring things that are out of sight into palpable perception.
Significant traumas can also cause an uncontrolled “out-of-body experience.” These types of temporary shifts in perception are closely associated with the near-death experience.
Energy Connection with the Universe
Some believe there is an energy force that is more prominent than our connection with people and the planet. Many ancient traditions tell us the Universe is conscious and has a special place, a storehouse of all ancient knowledge and wisdom. To be out of mind is to swim in the pure consciousness of the Universe.
Dream life Occurrence
If something keeps appearing in your dreams, it is a sign of an instinctual and emotional bond or a soul connection. The distinction between these two can be difficult to determine. Several factors are involved. These factors include the frequency of the individual or place, the pattern of events in the dream, the clarity of your senses, and the emotions it brings up.
Does the dream mirror past events, or is it fictional? Does the presence of someone or some place linger with you? The best way to understand the dream life experience is by placing it within the context of similar occurrences. Sometimes, this could be the feelings or emotions associated with the event. Other times, it might be a visual cue, such as a glimpse of the person or place that appears in the corner of your vision.
Hallucinatory apparitions could be a sign of mental illness or legitimate messages from the subconscious mind. In most cases, it is a prompt for us to deal with past emotional trauma. These kinds of experiences could also be paranormal or supernatural events. Sorting out depends on your mental health, experience with other awareness expansion techniques, and your involvement with religious programming.
In Conclusion
A soul connection is a permanent link. We can learn to make these memories that provide a sense of peace and comfort. Remember, you can reframe memories. When these experiences are negative, it’s a sign you need to do some inner work.
