Spiritual Pathways Test Ensure You Are On The Right Path

When you test your path, it will ensure you are on the right path.  Conducting a spiritual pathways test will show you where to make adjustments to reach your goals.

Testing Our Spiritual Path

It is wise to test and readjust your path accordingly.   Learn all the signs and don’t ignore them to improve your journey.  You can learn from your mistakes.

If you discover you are headed toward a dead end, turn around or get off as soon as possible.  When you question your beliefs, it either confirms your path or shows the need for change.

People get comfortable with their beliefs.  You develop friends with the same opinions.  But just because it’s comfortable doesn’t mean it’s healthy.  Don’t stay on an unhealthy path because it is comfortable.  Our comfort zone can be an unhealthy zone.

Reasons to Use a Spiritual Pathways Test

These are the top reasons for testing your spiritual path:

1) The cultural narrative controls you through programming.  Those in control don’t want you to test your path.  If you start analyzing the cultural folklore’s doctrines, you’ll see how they use them to control you.

2) You want to develop.  You understand you will need to adjust your path from time to time.  So, don’t be reluctant to seek out new teachers.  Find the tools you need and change the direction of your journey.

3) Time is limited.  Please don’t waste time on the wrong spiritual road.

4) Counterfeit roads and teachers are harmful.   Avoid getting misused and hurt.  Test all your sources often.

5) If you don’t test, you miss opportunities.  You miss opportunities to grow and to help others.

Don’t be afraid of conducting a spiritual pathways test.  I test my path in this way.  If what I believe is wrong, I want to know.  I want to change my beliefs if it takes me down the wrong road.

When you stop and assess your path, you save time and money in the long run.  You don’t stay with unhealthy or unproductive things.  You confirm your growth by documenting the incremental and giant leaps and what helped you reach the goal.  It gives you the confidence you are on the best path and keeps you ready to learn.

Testing your path isn’t common in Western religions because it threatens their control.  Organized religions don’t want you to test your beliefs.   When you question what you believe, it undermines their control.  They want to keep you a paying customer, so they discourage and demonize anything that might hurt their bottom line.

9 Spiritual Pathways Test Warning Signs

9 spiritual pathways warning signs

Some universal warning signs for an unhealthy path include spiritual stagnation and lack of intellectual and spiritual growth.  There are nine main personality types in the Enneagram system, and each has its own blind spot that tells us we need to readjust our spiritual path.

It takes courage to question your beliefs, but it is worth it.  It would be best if you learned to question the system’s validity to ensure you are on the right path.

If you don’t know your Enneagram type, reading each of the warning signs may bring this to light.  More than one of these signs may resonate because these fears can manifest in several ways.  They can be manifest in your primary type, your wing type, or the type in the direction of disintegration.

1) Type Ones, the Reformers, fear their ideals are wrong and their efforts on their spiritual path are in vain.

2) Type Two, the helper, is afraid they will drive friends, family, and those they love if they change their beliefs.

3) The achievers fear their spiritual efforts are inadequate and empty, even if they are considered spiritual leaders.

4) Individualists fear they are missing out or wasting opportunities.  So, they try many things, but their practice no longer produces results.

5) The Investigator fears they will never be appreciated or find what they need no matter how much they try or how much they know.

6) Type Six, the Loyalists, live in fear of the loss of security in their beliefs and relationships.  So, they stay entrenched in beliefs and practices, even though they are not fruitful.

7)  Enthusiasts fear their experiences are empty and bring them no happiness.

8) Type Eight is the Challenger.  They fear others are turning against them, verging on paranoia.

9) The Peacemaker becomes overwhelmed when forced to face the reality of their beliefs and actions.

The 9 spiritual pathways also give us nine ways to enhance our intellectual and spiritual growth.  As we grow and integrate, we gain access to the sweet spot of each of the other qualities associated with other personalities.

Don’t despair.   If you are reading this, it means you have enough awareness to realize that you should test your spiritual practice.

The way to integrate is by developing a well-rounded, healthy spiritual practice.  You guessed it, and there are nine elements to this formula.

Conducting a Spiritual Pathways Test

It’s only natural to trust our spiritual road and believe in those who give us guidance and instruction.  It is more important to ensure you are on the right path than to stay on one just because it is comfortable.

The fact is, organized religions don’t want you to question their doctrines because you might discover things that would prompt you to leave.  They don’t want to lose paying customers.  It’s one of the best reasons for testing our spiritual path.

Some religions are harmful.  They use self-hypnosis and group hypnosis manipulation techniques to program bias and prejudice.  They justify this to make you believe it is alright to hate and discriminate.  It makes you think things like genocide and genital mutilation are just fine.  After all, their imaginary friend endorses it.

Therefore, it’s good to test your path.  When you ask the right questions, you determine if someone or some organization uses you.  A spiritual pathways test will reveal the programming that keeps you their customer.

Here’s a typical response when someone tells us they have no reason to question others’ beliefs.

“The warrior who trusts his path doesn’t need to prove the other is wrong.” ― Paulo Coelho (1)

We think this is a common misconception.  When someone tells us to wear blinders and keep to our affairs, it should prompt you to see why they don’t want us to prove something is wrong.

When you confront them to determine their motives, it’s another to ensure you are on the right path.  Trust your gut instincts.  Don’t just accept their arguments at face value.  Let your instincts tell you if they are being truthful.  Then, take it a step further and validate what they tell you with another unbiased source.

We have a social responsibility to warn others of potentially harmful things, including teachings or teachers.  If we know something is inherently dangerous, we should speak up.  When someone says, don’t question my beliefs, it’s time to ask what they believe.

Anyone who is socially aware will naturally want to help others avoid pitfalls.  If you know of erroneous and harmful teachers and practices, by all means, help others avoid them.  That’s why I test my path as a part of my regular annual routine.  Testing our spiritual path is prudent.

“A path is only a path, and there is no affront to oneself or to others in dropping it if that is what your heart tells you… Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think is necessary. Then ask yourself alone one question… Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn’t, it is of no use.” ― Carlos Castaneda (2)

Mr. Castaneda gives us an outline of approaching testing the spiritual road.  To look deliberately is to assess the spiritual route’s intent and goal.  “Try as often as necessary” means using all the resources to investigate.  Identify the intention behind the system.  Look at it from several points of view.  Use as many accurate sources as you can find.  Look into the meaning of its symbolism and history.

Finally, does this spiritual road “have a heart”?  To have “heart” means cultivating positive thinking and behavior for everything and everyone.  The road doesn’t have a heart if it’s discriminatory and sectarian.  The road doesn’t have a heart if it’s only for the few.   Favoritism and bias are not of the heart; they are created by the greed of an unhealthy ideology.

Questions to Ensure You Are On The Right Path

Here are some questions to ask yourself about your spiritual path.  It will help you determine if you are on the right path.

  • Why do you trust the road you are on?  Do you trust it because of indoctrination as a child?  Or because you have investigated the path and found it has merit.
  • Does walking this spiritual road produce fruit in the present, or is its focus on Afterlife promises?  What does it cost to gain afterlife rewards?  Is the afterlife an excuse not to face your existential fear of death?
  • Are your spiritual gifts available to you through this spiritual roadway?
  • Has your path opened your conscience?  Has it inspired action to help those less fortunate improve their life?
  • If you have a spiritual teacher, can you criticize and assess them?   Or is voicing a negative opinion off-limits?
  • Can you openly question the tenants of the system?  Is questioning the belief system against the rules?

How to Find Accurate Sources

If you research, always use sources outside the paradigm you are researching.  Those who align with a worldview are most likely to give misleading information.

When you are serious about spiritual exploration, find someone who provides tools.  Some teachers are looking for followers to bolster their Egos and or just their money.  They aren’t interested in your development.  It’s only natural to seek out teachers.  Be sure to select teachers who provide the tools to find your way.

There are several ancient spiritual technologies useful for consciousness exploration, which result from hundreds of years of research.  They are proven safe and effective through generations of use.  Everyone can use these processes to find their path.  We recommend the use of a variety of spiritual tools.  There are four major categories of these tools.

Testing My Path

There are many good reasons for testing our spiritual path.  So, make it a habit.  “Testing your path” is wise.  Don’t trust unquestioningly.  It’s the only way to ensure we are on the right road.
