Law of Attraction Scripting with Positive Affirmations

What’s Better Positive Affirmations or Law of Attraction Scripting?

Are affirmations and the law of universal attraction compatible?  Do you need to follow the theory of the law of attraction scripting to use positive affirmations?  Or are they two different things?

The word affirmation is from the Latin affirmare, which means to make steady, or strengthen.  Affirmations are phrases directing our thought life.  Most teachers use them as complementary elements in a larger life-changing plan.

So, if nothing else, affirmations make you more focused and resilient.  Saying or repeating a positive phrase can change your attitude, change your thinking.

Affirmations Or Law of Attraction?

The theory of attraction centers on the idea we get what we want if we ask it the right way.  Getting it to work for you can be problematic.  Even teachers of this philosophy admit there are many hurdles to getting it to work the way it is advertised.

Negative thoughts can cancel out positive ones.  If the formula isn’t used correctly, it is your fault.  You lack faith.  Many people have made a lot of money selling programs that promise to teach you how to make it work.  This theory is an offshoot of the Hindu concept, which underlies affirmations, mantras, and sutras.

Law of Attraction Scripting is simply another way of programming the thinking process using affirmations.

Many feel Mantras and Sutras are more potent for promoting immediate effects.  Moving and seated meditation have excellent outcomes because they bypass the inner critic.

Problems with Universal Attraction Philosophy

The law of universal attraction (LOA) has a downside.  According to psychologists, LOA can cause more problems than it fixes.  Here is what they say.  (1)

  • LOA is metaphysical pseudoscience, which makes a false assumption and draws conclusions based on incorrect data.
  • LOA proposes you alone are responsible for attracting success.  Furthermore, no matter how unrealistic, any goal is achievable if you use the right formula.
  • LOA is based on the flawed philosophy which psychologists call apophenia, the tendency to attribute connections or meaning to patterns between things that are not there.  It is the impetus behind conspiracy theories.

Those who foster this belief assimilated the scripting fundaments of affirmations into their philosophy.  It is the only part of LOA which is accurate.  Affirmations have their limitations, but they do work when you use them in the correct manner.

Here’s the central problem with LOA.  It proposes the way to achieve any goal is to pretend I’ve already achieved it.  Jack Canfield, who sells the Secret behind LOA, says our job is not to figure out how but to trust the Universe to figure out how to manifest it.  It takes a proven psychological technique out of context.

Sports psychologists use a proven strategy to have athletes use creative visualization to overcome performance issues.  Here, the athlete sees themselves completing the activity, like pole vaulting over 20 feet.   Then the athlete practices to meet the objective.  Visualizing what it feels like to do it successfully helps them overcome the fear of failure.  It is much different from what Mr. Canfield proposes.  The athlete visualizes and practices.  The athlete does not leave everything up to the Universe.  If you take the course called The Secret, you’ll find later in the course you can buy extra material to help you create an action plan.

Positive Affirmations as Mind Hacks

Affirmations are mind hacks that help you insert positive self-talk.  Let’s return to the example of the pole vaulter.  They may have a negative self-talk track saying, I can never go over the bar at 20 feet.  This negative self-sabotaging talk track is a hindrance to achieving their goal.  They should replace this with something positive, such as my training will enable me to clear the 20-foot mark.

Even though affirmations alone may not be the answer, they can be an excellent tool to augment your spiritual toolbox.  You may not have time to engage in other practices in challenging situations, but you can always repeat a positive phrase.  Like any other tool, you must learn how to use them to get positive results.

Think of these scripts as new programming for the mind.  To reprogram an electronic device, you must first delete any programming that conflicts with the new thought scripts.  Your mind does not differ from a computer in this case.

Affirmations are becoming more popular as a way of changing our attitudes.  Let’s talk about some best practices before we get to the list.  Rehearsing thought scripts is an old mind hack.

Repetition is the key.  If you use affirmations to change your attitude, you must convince yourself that what you say is true.  So, instead of saying I can’t do this or that, say I currently struggle with it.  This honest statement does not close the door to the possibilities.

Also, please don’t say I can when you clearly can not.  Instead, say, How can I do this or that?  In this way,  you encourage the Universe to help you make the changes you want.  It enables you to stay resolved and open to finding the solution.

Also, you need to understand affirmations alone may not change the overall trajectory of your life.  However, they can provide an immediate short-term boost in your attitude.   When used with other tactics, they can be a good tool in your overall plan.

In the short term, they help you gain emotional equilibrium.  Affirmations bolster your confidence, which may be enough to make a tremendous difference.  The following is a list of examples.  So combine them, change them, make them yours.  Add them to your health practice of exercise, meditation, etc.

Using Affirmations or Law of Attraction Scripting

Here’s another analogy to help you understand how to use these tools.  Think of the mind as a garden.  If you plant things you want, you need to prepare the soil.  It means taking out the rocks and weeds.  If you don’t do this first, the seeds or other plants you want will have trouble growing.

“The reason affirmations fail is that you have not dealt with pre-existing harmful or negative thought scripts. Always repair the ground before planting new seeds.  Otherwise, the weeds will kill the new seeds.

After you delete the negative thought scripts, many people still experience a lag in the manifestation from the inner world to the outer world.  Do not be discouraged if your perception of the otter world does not reflect your affirmations.  Continue to chant your mantra. Invite the transformation, do not demand it.

Remember, if you fail to manifest what you desire, it means you need to do some serious inner work to root out negative bias and prejudice.”  — Guru Tua

Universe Failsafe

Here’s something to keep in the back of your mind.  If the law of attraction scripting works, you need to be careful with what you think and your words.  The same applies to negative thinking and comments if affirmations and mantras have positive results.

If LOA isn’t real, it doesn’t matter.  We know negative thoughts negatively affect your attitude.  A negative attitude makes it more difficult to find solutions or achieve difficult physical tasks like pole vaulting.

In practical terms, our thoughts lead to the words we speak.  When we say things, they are more likely to become actions.  Thus, the emphasis is on positive affirmations rather than negative terms.

Thankfully, the Universe has a failsafe method in operation.  People who are asleep or less awake exhibit less control over their thoughts, speech, and actions.  The Universe is in tune with this level of vibration.

Thus, people with less control over their minds possess less spiritual power.  Some refer to this energy as Chi.  With less energy, they are less likely to do too much damage.  Still, unhealthy, angry, or greedy people do enough damage in the physical realm as it is.

Best Practices

Before using affirmations, identify, replace, or repair any harmful thought scripts.  Your inner critic will be there repeating them.  Write these negative phrases down.  Cross them out, and then write the replacement.  When harmful scripts, like I can’t do this, or I am stupid,” come up, stop.  Mentally, cross them out and replace them with the positive script.

After you replace the negative with the positive, repeat it until you believe it.  Instead of I can’t do this, say, I’m going to be able to do this!

“Affirmations do not create magic, but they are good to remind yourself that you’re doing great, and it can create a positive mindset.” ― Pooja Agnihotri, 17 Reasons Why Businesses Fail :Unscrew Yourself From Business Failure
