Spiritual Awakening Signs and Symptoms Growth of Consciousness

Learn These Spiritual Awakening Signs and Symptoms ―

Learning to recognize these signs will provide essential clues to the growth of consciousness.  A real awakening opens our hearts and mind, but there are some intended and unintended consequences.  These changes are irreversible.

Increasing the bandwidth of awareness can be scary because you are venturing into unknown territory.  It will make significant changes in perception.  It is only natural to resist and fear change.  Change can be terrifying even when you know the change will make things better.  Understanding change is an excellent place to start this journey of self-discovery.

The Growth of Consciousness

“If you have the understanding to first notice the signs, continue with the courage to follow them.” ― Nikki Rowe

Awakening involves a range of experiences on an expanding continuum.  We welcome the changes in perception, but we don’t realize it also increases awareness and sensitivity.  An increase in sensitivity is a stimulus to motivate people.  People become active in a variety of different social and environmental concerns.

Since this is often new emotional territory, it can be scary.  The immediate reaction of the Ego is to run and hide.  That is when you need to have the courage to follow your heart.

“Spiritual awakening is the most essential thing in man’s life, and it is the sole purpose of being. Is not civilization, in all its tragic forms, a supreme motive for awakening?” ― Khalil Gibran

It may be essential for the spiritual being, but it is disastrous for the Ego. It’s also not something the popular culture likes either.  You can’t package and sell it, so it is a threat to all things commercial.

Spiritual Awakening Signs and Symptoms

The first of the most significant signs is when the spirit virtues come online.  They are the gifts our ancestors keep safe in our DNA.   We need something to open them.  The study of Enneagram is one of the best tools for this task.  It will unmask the components of Ego, our personality, and instincts.  It will help you see the thought scripts of your default settings.

A companion tool with the Enneagram is the Repeating Question Exercise.  Together these methods will open the doors of the subconscious mind.

The Virtues of the Spirit

When we cultivate these natural virtues, then all the artificial boundaries aren’t necessary.  Western religion is the most prevalent creator of artificial boundaries. The side effects of the “virtues of the spirit” dissolve division and align us with the experience some call Oneness.

Gratitude, Love, Appreciation, Serenity, Joyfulness, Happiness, Thankfulness, Blissfulness, and Mindfulness; these are the virtues of the spirit.  With these tools, we can conquer … not the world, but ourselves.  And so then… the world does not need to be conquered.” — Guru Tua

The heart often reflects the first spiritual awakening signs and symptoms.  It opens the door to our virtues and reveals a new level of internal and external awareness.  When you read the list of these powerful elements, most people don’t understand what they mean as an “experience.” It’s one thing to talk about philosophical and ethical propositions, but it’s quite a different thing to experience them firsthand.

The funny thing, awakening accomplishes everything religion promises but never delivers.   And the best part of forging your spiritual path is you don’t need doctrine or dogma.  All you need to do is use the processes for expanding awareness and consciousness.  The result is an awakening. Then the virtues of our spirit become a welcome side effect.

Greater Line-of-Sight

Awakening also creates a new line of sight.  A greater line-of-sight means you see things you didn’t before. An increased line of sight is one of the irreversible signs of the growth of consciousness.  On the one hand, this feels great.  You begin to recognize the small things that give our fragile world beauty.  You can see the value in other people, places, and things.  But this also means you know the pain and inequality in the world.  This new line of sight gives you a new perspective on everything. It’s one of the spiritual awakening signs and symptoms that people don’t expect. It’s also one you can’t reverse.

When you are awake, you find gratitude and thankfulness in almost any situation.  You appreciate the people and circumstances in your life.  Perspective provides beautiful insight. A beginner’s attitude leads to internal serenity, even when things aren’t going our way.  If we allow our vision to expand, we see more than just our self-interests.  The virtues of the spirit shine through.

An important skill to help increase this bandwidth is self-observation.  Improving your observation skills will help you identify and remove the roadblocks that make internal growth possible.  We awaken from the self-hypnosis of Ego.

“Spiritual Awakening is awakening from the dream of thought.” — Eckhart Tolle

Increased Emotional Bandwidth

There is also more room in our hearts than we thought.  So, this is a good thing.  We are no longer numb to the emotions of love and compassion, but this also makes us more emotionally vulnerable.  We don’t just empathize with other people; we can feel their pain.  This expansion of the heart empowers us to respond to others’ needs to other living things to the environment.  It also means we experience the depth of new lows.

If you are an Empath, you must learn coping skills to handle the extrasensory and emotional input. Thankfully, as you increase in the things you feel, you also have a more remarkable ability to guard against absorbing negative energy.

Sorry, but this is one of the spiritual awakening signs and irreversible symptoms.  You can’t stop feeling empathy for people and the world. The growth of conscience is a side effect.

As a result, you also need to learn about self-care.  Learn how your health and wellness connect to your emotional center.  There are several elements to our health and wellness that impact our experience on the path. Don’t overlook the importance of creating the ideal ingredients for your overall lifestyle and practice.

Stimulates Intellectual Curiosity

The growth of consciousness stimulates our curiosity.  Again, this is a good thing.  We learn to question everything.  Your perception of the world will become more evident when engaging your interest with increased line-of-sight. Now the logical fallacies of the cultural narrative will become more pronounced.

Make exercising your mind as important as exercising your body.  Include the study of logical reasoning and its components as a fundamental part of your research process.

If you live in a social situation where curiosity is not welcome, you must learn to be prudent. Spiritual awakening signs and symptoms are scary to those still awake. Your awakening may not be a good thing for those who don’t want you to change.  Learn to guard your words and actions.  However, controlling what you say doesn’t mean you should be fake and inauthentic.

We’ve learned that some cultures can be dangerous places for those who are freethinkers. Sadly, today, cultures still persecute those who dare to think outside the box of their narrow and prejudiced belief systems.

Increased Ability to Connect with the Infinite

The more you meditate and connect with the infinite, the more you awaken. As a result, the more you awaken, the easier it becomes to meditate and connect with the transcendent.  The side effects of awakening are synergistic.

The more you connect with the transcendent, the easier it will become; it opens other doors to higher consciousness states. Practicing the proper kind of mediation will expand your awareness will reveal a separate state of transcendental consciousness.

Transcendental consciousness, or the 4th state, is a partition of consciousness with specific metabolic characteristics. There is an increased coherence of brainwave patterns and brain frequency operation in the theta-wave area around 4 to 7 Hz.  We know this partition of consciousness as pure consciousness or bliss consciousness.

“It is only by grounding our awareness in the living sensation of our bodies that the ‘I Am,’ our real presence, can awaken.” — George Ivanovich Gurdjieff

As your mind becomes familiar with this state, it grows into waking consciousness. Some know the resulting experience as “witnessing.” It’s the result of the mind’s natural growth of awareness.  Our consciousness is capable of perception expansion to experience multiple vantage points simultaneously.  We experience ourselves separate from the physical body while also fully “present” in the body.  So, we see how consciousness is like a rainbow with progressive doors.  These doors become available as we grow.

Consequences of the Growth of Consciousness

Don’t fear the spiritual awakening signs and symptoms.  The bandwidth of consciousness increases the sensitivity of our nervous system.  You become more empathetic.  It means you cannot ignore the inequities and suffering of others. It’s a perspective that can change your priorities.   So, proper self-care can also make this transition more enjoyable.

Don’t be afraid of the growth of consciousness, but learn to understand that it brings a whole new outlook.  Chances are, it will change the way you think.  Those who are in your inner circle will notice the transformation.  In some cases, this may even cause some issues of relationships to surface.
