One of the first spiritual breakthroughs is an experience of the transcendent. The realization that we are “energy made conscious.”
But what is the purpose of this energy?
Is Life an Uncontrolled Experiment?
Everyone’s life is different. It seems like chaos, and maybe it is. Is it possible we are part of an elaborate experiment without controls? Perhaps this is why we create religions to provide answers which make us feel better. No matter what you believe, it comes back to the one thing we can measure.
We Are Energy Made Conscious
A standard theory in science and spirituality is that we are energy. So how does energy become a living thing? How does energy become conscious? There are many life forms on Earth, each one crafted for a particular environment. Some creatures have a close symbiotic relationship. One cannot exist without the other. How could they have evolved at all?
“We are all connected; To each other, biologically. To the earth, chemically. To the rest of the universe atomically.” ― Neil DeGrasse Tyson
“You are the big bang, the original force of the universe, coming on as whoever you are. When I meet you, I see not just what you define yourself as — Mr so-and-so, Ms so-and-so, Mrs so-and-so — see every one of you as the primordial energy of the universe coming on at me in this particular way. I know I’m that, too. But we’ve learned to define ourselves as separate from it.” ― Alan Watts
“Everything we do is infused with the energy with which we do it. If we’re frantic, life will be frantic. If we’re peaceful, life will be peaceful. And so our goal in any situation becomes inner peace.” ― Marianne Williamson
““Love is the purest energy in all of creation. We are pure love, made conscious. If you allow it to enter your heart, it will change the way you see everything and everyone.” — Guru Tua
The amount of scientific evidence provides us with some excellent conclusions. Evolution is one conclusion that presents more and more evidence. But, the intelligence behind the process is elusive. This intelligent force is something Rupert Sheldrake calls Morphic Resonance. Mr. Sheldrake postulates that this Morphic Resonance is the unifying field.
This process is what Einstein sought but was never able to identify. This mysterious force eluded his ability to quantify and articulate scientifically. It is the supreme force that philosophy and religion have given various names, including spirit or even God. It’s the reason many people think we are living in an uncontrolled experiment.
Even though we have a name for this process, we don’t know how it works. The universe itself seems to be both ordered and chaotic a the same time. And we are a part of it. It is hard to put into words. We are energy made conscious by some unmeasurable force.
Even our simple states of consciousness are mysterious. Each of our three default states of consciousness, waking, dream, and sleeping, have specific physiological reference points. We all share these partitions of awareness with many types of life. We can also prove the existence of a 4th transcendent state. We can measure it and experience it directly, but it is still hard to put into words; some call it pure consciousness, bliss consciousness, and the ground state. Consciousness is like a rainbow with many different colors that fade and overlap.
The Analogy of Someone Who Has Never Slept
Let’s imagine you met someone who has never fallen asleep, so consequently, they have never had a dream. How could we explain how to “fall” asleep and the benefits of doing so? If they asked you, “how do you know you are asleep?”
You’d have to tell them you don’t know you are asleep. That’s because when you are sleeping, you are unaware of time. Several hours pass, and you have no experience of time passing.
After you sleep, you awaken refreshed and rested. The only thing that could happen while you are asleep is that you might have dreams. Okay, now you have to explain what dreaming is all about. It leads to more trouble because some dreams become intense hallucinations known as nightmares. Yes, the most frightening things you could imagine. And, they seem real.
At this point in our discussion, the other person is becoming more hesitant. They are not sure they want to attempt sleeping. Not only is it a waste of time, but they “lose” awareness of their body. And they don’t like the possibility of having a frightening nightmare. So, the answer to the sleep experience is “no.”
These are the excuses people use for not exploring other states of consciousness. They don’t have any similar experiences to compare. So, it is scary. Does this mean our lives are some experiment?
What if We Are Pure Love?
We experience life as separate identities. We think we’re separate because that’s how society teaches us to define ourselves. But deep down, there’s a realization that we are much more.
“Why is love beyond all measure of other human possibilities so rich and such a sweet burden for the one who has been struck by it? Because we change ourselves into that which we love, and yet remain ourselves. Then we would like to thank the beloved, but find nothing that would do it adequately. We can only be thankful to ourselves. Love transforms gratitude into faithfulness to ourselves and into an unconditional faith in the Other. Thus love steadily expands its most intimate secret. Closeness here is existence in the greatest distance from the other- the distance that allows nothing to dissolve – but rather presents the “thou” in the transparent, but “incomprehensible” revelation of the “just there”. That the presence of the other breaks into our own life – this is what no feeling can fully encompass. Human fate gives itself to human fate, and it is the task of pure love to keep this self-surrender as vital as on the first day.” ― Martin Heidegger
“Friendship is the purest love. It is the highest form of Love where nothing is asked for, no condition, where one simply enjoys giving.” ― Osho
“The only creatures that are evolved enough to convey pure love are dogs and infants.” ―
When we talk about being spiritual energy, we are venturing into the mystical realm of our experience. We describe this Eureka realization as Oneness. And, it leaves you begging the questions, why this life form, why at this point? Why is our default state of consciousness tied to a singular moment in time? This a limited point of observation.
We are pure love, energy made conscious, exploring life from a narrow bandwidth of perception. What is the purpose of this experiment? Why are we doing this?
Your Divine Energy is worth more than anything material. Your energy is the currency of the Universe. The vibration and frequency of your energy create either positive or negative results. The greatest gift you can give everyone is to raise your vibration.
There are simple things you can do to raise your vibration. It’s essential to “be positive” in your thoughts and intentions. Meditate regularly and bask in the transcendent to align and rejuvenate. Give of yourself to others in need. Perhaps the question, if we are spiritual energy, what kind of energy are we? Is this solidified consciousness the reflection of what we call the soul?
You might be sad that others haven’t experienced this expanded point of view. Or, it might fill you with joy, “knowing” that this transcendence awaits everyone.
The transcendent opens the doors to other spiritual gifts and goals. Maybe you’ve found your calling as a guide or teacher. Or, this could open the door to the healing arts. If this experience leaves you demanding answers to the previous questions, your calling is that of a See or Sage. But, if you have not yet had this experience, your first steps are to seek instruction in the process of Japa or Transcendental Meditation.
It would seem a logical conclusion that we are pure love, divine and spiritual energy made conscious. Are we here as part of an experiment for some greater universal consciousness? This journey of solidified consciousness is mysterious. What do you think?
