Does this type of journey seem interesting? This is what Joseph Campbell calls The Hero’s Journey. This is the call to walk your own path. Are you ready to begin?
The Mystical Journey
This type of inner quest is synonymous with Hero’s Journey. So, this quest is one that has benchmarks of sorts. It is a cyclical process, staring with an awakening to the call of the inner quest. As we embark on this quest and awaken, we begin to transform as we become aware of and open our spiritual gifts. We are inspired by these inner revelations and so naturally want to share and help others. We awaken a little more and the process starts over again. This cycle involves every aspect of our Being, our mind, body, and spirit.
The hero’s journey always begins with the call. One way or another, a guide must come to say, ‘Look, you’re in Sleepy Land. Wake. Come on a trip. There is a whole aspect of your consciousness, your being, that’s not been touched. So you’re at home here? Well, there’s not enough of you there.’ And so it starts.
We use the above quote from Joseph Campbell to start every new group. This is because it sets the tone for the Hero’s Journey. It helps us focus on the mission, to learn and share. And, we encourage you to use this quote. It sparks the call for many spiritual explorers. No one can tell you what this mystical path holds for you. You must travel it yourself to find out. What is a mystical journey? It is walking the path.
Additionally, we encourage you to use the quotes and posts on our Facebook Page or our Facebook Group. These virtual links keep us connected to our partners. The posts help to encourage and inform those on their own Hero’s Journey.
The Inner Quest
The pattern of The Hero’s journey is at the heart of many spiritual traditions. They may have different characters but contain many of the same core elements. It resonates with us because we are born to seek the unknown. We are explorers at heart. So, this inner journey is a reflection of our nature. This call to enter the mystical journey of spiritual exploration.
There are three phases to this universal pattern. If we look closely, we’ll find this pattern in our own lives. Knowing where you are in this process is helpful. It’s a way of pinpointing the right actions to get you to the next phase in the cycle. This pattern cycles repeat over and over, again and again. If you use a spiritual journal, you’ll find this pattern etched in the history of your life.
The inner quest is the call of Universe whispering, seek me, let me show you the way.― Guru Tua
This story has three main phases that intertwine and overlap. If we are perceptive, we can see these phases in our own lives. Again, these three phases are awakening, transforming, and inspiring:
- We “awaken” through the use of specific spiritual tools. And, so become motivated by our own spiritual nature. Learning the basics that are the platform for many other similar processes and advanced techniques.
- Our “Transformation” and personal illumination come as we overcome the obstacles on the path. Hence, we obtain a deeper understanding of ourselves and the Universe as we employ more powerful tools. We begin to develop our own individual path while walking along and helping others.
- “Inspiring” others is a natural part of personal growth. Therefore, we become teachers of others and ourselves. As we learn more we can assist others. We gain confidence in our own path as we overcome obstacles or find ways around them. This leads to greater awareness and awakening. So, the cycle begins again.
The Mystical Journey and the Hero’s Journey
Many people are curious about the unknown. They seek answers about who and what they are. Why are we here? These questions are the impetus for the exploration of our consciousness. And that brings us to the inner quest, the Hero’s Journey.
These same three steps are also reflected naturally in the progression of our Blended Learning Process. This is the core of our mission. We exist to share this knowledge. The three phases of The Hero’s Journey reflect our learning strategy.
The first step of awakening is to establish a platform of mutual trust and communication. To accomplish this goal, we use a number of individual and group exercises. Here we discuss and explore the basic concepts of ego and consciousness. We also introduce the use of the Enneagram Personality Profile. With this tool, we examine personality, instincts, and cultural influences.
We learn practical tactics and shortcuts. For example, we show how to implement many “best practices: the use of a journal to record experience since incremental growth is difficult to spot day today. Also, we show how to make use of smartphone reminders so we learn to create good habits for mindfulness and other exercises. We learn how to apply tactics of logical reasoning, as well as, our intuition in our quest.
At the core of this phase are the fundamentals of seated and moving meditation progressions. Sound and vibration play an important element in the experiential side. Here we use the singing bowl and drum. These exercises unveil our innate gifts and special qualities enabling participants to become co-facilitators and thus are prepared to facilitate the next phase.
In the second phase, participants co-facilitate a deep-dive learning experience. This includes several powerful consciousness-expanding and mind-body integration tools. We have found the weekend get-away the best format for this phase. We hold these weekend retreats at many resort facilities. The reason this phase is presented over a weekend because the depth of the material requires this type of dedicated time commitment. Participants need time to practice feel comfortable in making these tools their own.
Each technology in the learning sequence builds upon one another. The synergistic effect of learning these technologies back to back provides an extraordinary experience on a number of levels. These spiritual technologies include advanced practices and elements of the eightfold path of Yoga, such as elements of Dhyana, Pratyahara, Pranayama, Asana, and Japa Meditation. Other moving elements include Qigong, Tai Chi, and Tai Kek. Healing modalities of Reiki and Pejut. Preparation for Kundalini and third eye activation are also a part of this phase. Additionally, the community-building aspect of the weekend event is in and of itself a powerful experience, and it also provides the foundation for the next phase.
In the last phase inspiring others is a natural outcome. By this point in the process, we have experienced transformation on a personal level. To grow their knowledge participants meet to share and help one another. More importantly, they learn that spiritual practices are intended to bring about changes in their lives. They begin to develop their own unique routines based on their unique life situations. This leads to further awakening as we discover other aspects of our infinite nature.
The answer to the question, what is a mystical journey, can only be found when you embark on your own Hero’s Journey. The path and the experience are different for everyone, even if you use the same technologies. If this call resonates with you seek out sources and teachers who can give you the tools described above. If there aren’t any sources available in your area you should consider joining us in one of our virtual training sessions. At SP4SE you can participate in the “Awakening” phase of the mystical journey.
