This is the psychic doorway, the key to opening awareness to non-ordinary states of consciousness. Are you ready to open this door?
What is the Third Eye?
How do you know if you have one? We all have one. It’s synonymous with the Penial Gland in the middle of the forehead. This is the sixth of seven Chakras in the Yogic traditions. In Egyptian tradition, it is “The Eye of Horus” and “The All-Seeing Eye.”
These names refer to a window of perception and the flow of energy. It acts as a portal. Opening this portal brings about a significant change in perception. It is the key to opening awareness.
Background on the Third Eye
In the average person, the pineal gland is dormant. The pineal gland is the size of a pea. Many ancient cultures reasoned that most people are born with this glad dormant. In this way, it would allow a person to mature and become grounded in this plane.
A certain level of grounding is necessary before opening higher realms of perception. This is exactly why many cultures required potential candidates to show they were ready to open this portal. The Pineal Gland is the Third Eye.
Some are born with this center already open. We call these individuals “gifted” and natural “shaman.” Unfortunately, because they talked about other worlds, the perception of things not seen or experienced by those who were not familiar with this gift.
The dominant culture had no place for these people, and they labeled them heretics, witches, or sorcerers. This led to their persecution under the Inquisition. This persecution continues to this day as we incarcerate these gifted individuals in sanatoriums and insane asylums.
We recommend that you read Carlos Castaneda’s works. They sell these works under the assumption that his training under the Toltecs of Mexico was merely fictional. However, if you complete the third eye activation described below, you may find that you will have experiences similar to those described by Mr. Castaneda, even absent the use of the psychotropic additives used in his work.
The French Philosopher Rene Descartes believed the pineal gland to be “the seat of the soul” where mind and body met. It is important to understand that if you open this portal, you will see, hear, taste, and feel and otherwise experience reality differently. You will need to learn to filter your experience and those you share your perceptions of reality.
Third Eye Questions and Answers
If you have questions about this subject, please follow this link before you attempt these activation exercises.
How should I prepare to open this portal?
We do not recommend this exercise as your first spiritual technology. This is an advanced spiritual technique. Again, if you aren’t sure you are ready, please follow the link to find out more about preparing for this technique.
How will this portal affect my perception?
Once this portal is open, you may find it much easier to meditate and connect with the transcendent. This is especially true if you already practice Japa or Transcendental Meditation. It will enhance your experience with both seated and moving meditation. Daydreaming will take on extra levels of clarity. Some people call these visions.
This portal also opens the heart Chakra. Shamans talk about being able to see with their hearts. This means your conscience will come front and center. You can no longer ignore injustice and discrimination. You will see through the veil of groupthink manipulation tactics that hold people hostage, to biased and prejudiced religious ideologies.
Closing My Third Eye Once it’s Open?
Sorry, contrary to what you hear, you can’t close this portal of perception once it is open. That’s why you need to be certain you want to open this portal. You can’t unsee something once you’ve seen it. You cannot ignore it and hope that it will go away.
As mentioned above, it also opens your heart. Your conscience grows along with your awareness. So, you may feel the need to involve yourself in positive world-building activities. You may find the need to help some disadvantaged group of people. Or, you may feel the calling to support some aspect of environmental activism. These are often life-changing messages that we cannot ignore.
Third Eye Activation Exercises
It is important to follow the instructions. This technology has the power to change your nervous system. You may experience varying degrees of changes, and sometimes significant discomfort as your body adapts to the new circuitry/pathways and new energy flows.
Please also review the effects of these exercises before you begin. There is a price for this increase in perception.
Third Eye Activation Exercise One
Opening the third-eye is a series of techniques using sound to open and active this portal. All it takes is chanting a specific tone while in a comfortable seated position. You will need to repeat this 5-minute exercise for three consecutive days, and afterward, the effects are permanent. So, again, be sure this is something you are ready for.
The mantra chant used to open the third-eye is “Thoh,” pronounced “TOE.” You will need to experiment with the volume and tone to find the correct vibration that resonates with you. Normally, the pitch is not deep or high but somewhere in between. You will feel when you hit the correct tone. There will be vibrational energy in your tongue, jaw, and forehead where the penal glad (Third-Eye) is located. Don’t second guess yourself. When you feel the above vibration, you’ve got it.
Again, the following exercises have the power to activate this dormant perception energy center. Please read this thoroughly and decide whether you are ready to undertake activation. These exercises are powerful and, if not done correctly, can have a range of undesirable side effects. Once activated, it will often result in the cascade of several changes (see What You Expect From Activation Exercise One).
Process for Activation Exercise One
1. Sit comfortably with your back straight, but not tense. Your head should feel like it is floating above your shoulders. Close your eyes. Breathe in through your nose and hold your breath as long as is comfortable.
2. Exhale through your mouth. Your teeth should be slightly apart. Don’t clench. Open your jaws, so there is a small space between your top and bottom teeth. Place the tip of your tongue between the space of your slightly parted teeth. Put very light pressure on the tongue with your teeth. This is the same as pronouncing the “TH” sound in the English word “the.”
Once your tongue is in position, release your breath slowly through your mouth, saying T-H-H-O-H-H in one long exhale. Say the word one-time per exhale. Your tongue should be just touching your teeth. You should feel the air moving past your tongue and teeth. When completing this technique, you will feel pressure or sensation in your jaw and cheeks. However, the focus will be to feel the tone vibrate in your third eye.
It may take a few minutes to find the right tone and volume. You’ll know when you find it. The results will be an undeniable resonance in your forehead. Finding the right tone is the key to success. If you do not feel this vibration, take a break and try again in about 30 minutes. Limit your attempts to five times in one day. If after 5 days it does not work, you are not sufficiently grounded. Do more preparatory work before attempting again.
3. Once you find the right tone, continue for at least five breaths.
4. Do this exercise for 3 consecutive days, 24 hours apart. Then it should be permanent.
5. Be sure to record your experience in your journal or book of shadows. This will enable you to spot trends and incremental growth.
What to expect from Activation Exercise One
One of the most common experiences afterward is pressure, sensation, or even a headache in the center of the forehead. This sensation may also feel like it is originating from within, an inch or more beneath the surface of the forehead. This is a positive sign the pineal gland is awakening and functioning.
Opening awareness is like breaking through a wall. Your senses will be open to new experiences. You will need time to normalize this additional information.
Some people experience headaches similar to a migraine, sometimes lasting several hours. We recommend that you use this exercise in the evening when you do not have work to do. The severity of the side effects will depend on how atrophied/calcified your pineal gland is, to begin with.
The day after this exercise, you may wake up with a slight throbbing or tingling sensation in your forehead; it may feel like a goosebump. Sometimes this sensation will be intense like something is there. It is common for this sensation of pulsing or throbbing to continue throughout the day. Some people “hear” sounds from within their head, such as light popping or crackling sensations.
In a day or two, you should experience energy flowing or blowing through the third-eye Chakra. This is similar, if not identical, to those who practice Kundalini Yoga. You may experience energy coming front to back or back to front. This energy may come in bursts, but you learn to control this flow with your intention.
The above signs will show your pineal gland is awakening, functioning, and alive. This isn’t the end. Once it is open, you will need to learn how to channel this energy for positive action.
Third Eye Activation Exercise Two
Be sure to complete Activation Exercise One and wait at least 90 days before you try Activation Exercise Two. If you haven’t done this, stop and come back later. Otherwise, the exercises won’t be as effective. And you could manifest other undesirable side effects.
Your body needs time to adapt to the new energy flows. You will do this exercise once a week to expand awareness. This exercise is often euphoric and intensely pleasurable. However, given the blissful effects when done correctly, most people will enjoy doing so.
Process for Activation Exercise Two
1. Sit comfortably with your back comfortably erect. Your head floats above your shoulders. Close your eyes. Breathe in deeply and hold your breath for a count of five.
3. Repeat this three times. These three preparatory steps help you relax and focus. Now breathe in and focus all of your attention on your forehead where this portal is located. You should feel sensations similar to the Awakening I exercise affects — an awareness or pressure in your forehead.
4. Now, take a deep breath as in Awakening I exercise. Hold it for as long as comfortable — do not push this — and release your breath, vibrating the word “MAY.” This is pronounced like the English word for May. Concentrate on moving the energy from the third eye into the middle of your head. It should all come out at one time- M-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ay, gradually and slowly.
Adjust your pitch so that the tone resonates throughout your head. It’s okay to experiment until you find the right tone. Breathe in again and repeat this five times. You need to find the pitch that works for you. So, experiment as necessary to find the tone and pitch. Again, direct the energy from your third eye into your head and then finally up and out the top of your head where your crown chakra is located.
5. Be sure to record your experience in your journal or book of shadows. This will enable you to spot trends and incremental growth.
Potential Effects of Activation Exercise Two
You may experience these in varying degrees:
- Enhanced ability for lucid dreaming
- Faster, easier learning and retention
- A marked increase in intuition
- Increased creativity
- Psychic or spiritual gifts develop and become markedly stronger, along with a more developed ability to see or sense other spiritual entities, energy, and auras
- This is a potent exercise, and as with all powerful practices, your body may go through discomfort to adapt.
It’s important to realize our beliefs cloud perception because perception can become a mask hiding the truth. The truth they want to hide is the facts about their beliefs. Awakening the third-eye will make you see what’s behind the mask. Be sure you are ready to see what is behind your mask of illusions.
